Spatial and structural interfaces of co-housing projects of the syndicate model with their socio-spacial urban context

Inmitten aktueller Stadtentwicklungen sollen gemeinschaftlich genützte Räume in und von selbstinitiierten Wohnprojekten, welche in das in das deutsche Mietshäuser Syndikat bzw. das österreichische habiTAT eingebettet sind, auf ihr Potenzial als urbane Bausteine untersucht werden. Bemühungen der Gruppen, kommunale Versorgungslücken für das Quartier zu schließen bei gleichzeitiger Reduktion kommunaler Angebote setzen die Wohnprojekte mit ihrem urbanen Umfeld in Beziehung. Gemeinschaftlich genützte und selbstorganisierte Räume innerhalb der gebauten Projekte stellen räumliche Schnittstellen zwischen den Bewohner:innen und deren Nachbar:innenschaft
dar. Das Dissertationsprojekt stellt die Frage, wie die Bedeutung einzelner, selbstorganisierter Wohnprojekte für die Entwicklung des gesamten Quartiers bewertet werden kann.
Amidst current urban developments, shared spaces in and by self-initiated housing projects embedded in the German Mietshäuser Syndikat respectively the Austrian habiTAT are to be examined for their potential as urban building blocks. Efforts on the part of the groups to close community supply gaps for the quarter while at the same time municipal offers are being reduced connect the housing projects with their urban surroundings. Shared and self-organized spaces within the built projects represent spacial interfaces between the residents and their neighborhood. The dissertation project discusses the question of how the importance of individual, self-organized housing projects for the development of the entire quarter can be assessed.
